This two-volume set offers readers a single source of information on early North American thinkers, philosophers and intellects. In the introduction to this work, the editor notes that many of the individuals found throughout the over 450 entries are not academic philosophers but, instead, individuals who engaged in philosophical thought during the early American period of 1600 through 1860.
