At the small public library where I worked, we would occasionally field readers’ advisory requests for recommended fiction, almost exclusively using online resources like NoveList and Fantastic Fiction. Although this might be the quickest way to provide a user with read-a-like novels, it’s certainly not the only way a library professional can respond to these types of enquiries. I also find best-of lists and readers’ advisory books to be very useful.
