Many readers of Reference Reviews, this reviewer among them, will staunchly defend the continued publication of printed reference books. Although so much information can be rapidly found from online sources, a reference book often provides authority which may be lacking from a webpage.

But for British radio, the subject of this particular volume in the Historical Dictionary series there is a highly authoritative online source, the BBC webpages: www.bbc.co.uk. Of course, this Dictionary covers much more than the BBC, although there are 18 pages of entries under that heading alone, and it does provide a single point...
