Logistics management in sports has not been analysed except for professional sports or major sports events. The purpose of this paper is to propose a logistics management framework that facilitates the analysis and control of the fundamental pillars of any sports event.
This paper proposes a framework for sport logistics management (extending the one proposed by Herold et al. (2020)) and applies it to a case study in a minority sport: the Spanish Beach and Ocean Lifesaving Championship.
Our case study has allowed us to validate the proposed model for the logistic management of sporting events and to identify the fundamental pillars to be considered.
Although the model proposed by Herold et al. (2020) has already been used in the management of major sporting events, our proposed extension to include the human resources pillar should be validated to demonstrate its applicability in major sports.
The proposal of a framework for the logistical management of sporting events, not only for major sports but also for minority sports, makes it possible to structure and not forget the most important aspects for the correct development of any sports event.
The proposed model extends the model of Herold et al. (2020) by explicitly including human resource management. In addition, the model has been validated with a minority sport: lifesaving.
