This site offers a comprehensive catalogue of information and advice on a whole range of subjects linked to ethics management. It is basically a free management library, providing a complete guide to all things relating to ethics in management. Why is it out there in cyberspace? Well, the easy to use and navigate site does not say as much. What it does say is that the library provides easy-to-access, clutter free, comprehensive resources regarding the leadership and management of yourself, other individuals, groups and organisations. It is hard to argue with that assessment, with around 650 topics covered in the library, spanning around 5000 links. The aim of the site is to infuse strong ethical principles for companies that are keen to change their culture. There is an abundance of material, and the site merits a look.

www.allbusiness.com/

“Simple solutions. Powerful advice.” That is what this site offers the senior managers and strategists in today’s modern workplace. All the world is a more complex, demanding and fiercely competitive place, and that is just in the primary school playground. In the board room it is survival of the fittest only, like never before. But fear not, as the more tricky the workplace gets the more companies exist offering the most potent of advice and the most simple of solutions. This site is a very glitzy example of one such organization claiming to have at its disposal the painless panaceas for all board-room woes. And who are we to judge? Websites are nothing if not another visual marketing medium, and as websites go this is as good as you can expect. Everything you need to know to convince you why your company would benefit from All Business services, as well as what those services work, where, when and how they can be of benefit, and who else has benefited, is all there waiting to entice you.

In the gene-bank

www.bieinterim.co.uk/

BIE Interim are a company with 55 years experience of sourcing and placing the best heavyweight interim managers into positions that are required to be filled by organisations. But do not call them a recruitment agency, or headhunters. The website is a little full-on, a bit packed with information and trim. But the sentiment is there, and the experience, client list and testimonials are too.

A lighter look at life

No matter how highly pressurised your job is, no matter how much stress you endure for the sake of your title, status and salary, and no matter how serious your work is to you and the world at large, it is always worth taking a look at how the funny people of our world view the side that is deemed to be all so important. The world of work, especially at board-room level, can often and all too easily become a case of “can’t see the wood for the trees”,or at least “can’t see the funny side of anything”, so this site is highly recommended. TheSpoof.com is one of the largest and funniest online spoof news, satire and parody newspapers on the internet. Nothing is sacred to TheSpoof.com, least of all senior managers and board room directors. If the egos not feeling at all fragile, delve into this website for at least a laugh, at best a glimpse of how the humorists view the serious side of work.

And finally

Private Jones was assigned to the Army induction center, where he was to advise new recruits about their government benefits, especially their Serviceman’s Group Life Insurance (SGLI). It was not long before the center’s Lieutenant noticed that Jones had almost a 100 percent record for insurance sales. Rather than ask about this, the Lt stood in the back of the room and listened to Jones’s sales pitch.

Jones explained the basics of the SGLI to the new recruits, and then said.“If you have SGLI and go into battle and are killed, the government has to pay $200,000 to your beneficiaries. If you do not have SGLI, and you go into battle and get killed, the government has to pay only a maximum of $6,000.”

“Now”, he concluded, “which bunch do you think they are going to send into battle first?”
