One of the UK’s most exciting new companies, Cambridge Display Technology (CDT), has won The Royal Academy of Engineering MacRobert Award for 2002, Britain’s most prestigious annual prize for engineering innovation. A team from CDT has won the gold medal in recognition of the company’s developments in engineering the rapid commercialization of their ground‐breaking light‐emitting polymers (LEP) technology. This key emerging display technology, which could replace both the cathode ray tube and liquid crystal displays, is set to both improve the performance of displays in current applications and revolutionise the nature of future display products and how they are manufactured.
