Purpose
To investigate how Renfrew have addressed the headaches for both customer and operator in buying groceries on‐line.
Design/methodology/approach
In developing the Shopbox, the design team at Renfrew had to tackle a number of key issues.
Findings
This stylish, temperature controlled, and relatively inexpensive home delivery container allows groceries to be delivered at anytime, 24 hours a day; improving the on‐line shopping experience of customers, and delivering real benefits to store operators.
Originality/value
Shopbox can enable supermarkets to make huge cost savings through improved routing, vehicle utilisation and productivity. Even if the most efficient routing software is used, each delivery costs the same.
