Land Infrared's latest product launch will be good news for OEMs and process engineers faced with the problem of measuring temperatures in locations where space is at a premium (Plate 3).

With overall dimensions of only 18.6mm diameter x 118mm, the new, miniature MF3 infrared radiation thermometer is ideal for continuous, online industrial applications in a tight corner.

It has been designed to provide effective, non-contact temperature measurement at minimum trouble and cost, and is intended for plastics, textiles,asphalt, rubber, ceramics, pulp and paper, and food.

Three models are available, covering an overall measurement range of 0 to 500°C. All are housed in a rugged stainless steel body complete with a 1m pre-wired cable for simple connection.

Also available is a dedicated range of mountings and accessories, including a water-cooled jacket recommended for environments subject to significant temperature variations.

Accurate to within ±1.5 per cent of the specified measurement range at an ambient 23°C, the MF3 has a response time of 300ms and repeatability of±1 per cent. The 5:1 field of view is suitable for targets with a diameter of 60mm at 300mm.
