Article Type: Appointments From: Soldering & Surface Mount Technology, Volume 22, Issue 3

Marantz Business Electronics has announced the appointment of Jeremy Saise to the position of Product Manager, solder paste inspection (SPI). Jeremy brings 17 years of AOI industry experience to Marantz, including ten years specialising in SPI. The company recently introduced a revolutionary SPI system to complement its acclaimed iSpector and PowerSpector AOI product lines.

In his new role, Jeremy will provide process engineering expertise and direct point-of-sale support to customers for Marantz’s AOI and SPI product lines from his base in the UK. As a recognised specialist in both the AOI and SPI disciplines – a blend of skills still uncommon in the industry – he is an expert on inspection systems capability and particularly on translating AOI and SPI data feedback into process adjustments to stencil printers and other upstream equipment.

“I am delighted to have secured Jeremy’s services within the direct Marantz Europe operation,” says Henk Biemans, General Manager of Marantz Business Electronics in Europe. “He is one of very few individuals with key expertise in evaluating inspection results to drive process improvement, which has long been considered critical in SPI and arguably makes it the effective discipline it is today. We identify similar requirements within the AOI sector, so through Jeremy Marantz is exceptionally well placed to deliver knowledge and tangible process benefits.”

Asked about his new role, Jeremy comments: “I am extremely pleased and look forward enthusiastically to this new challenge. Working with a market leading team that continues to develop unique and innovative technology to the industry is particularly exciting for me, and the recent addition of SPI to the product line-up is a fine example. Truly effective SPI does more than measure your printer; having developed initiatives to deliver practical yield improvement for most of the big names in the US, I’m in a strong position to distinguish Marantz’s new PowerSpector S1 as the optimum solution to enhance this process and provide a faster return for customers.”

Unveiled to great acclaim last November at Productronica, the Marantz PowerSpector S1 employs innovative new “5D” technology that uniquely delivers true solder paste area, shape, offset, volume and height measurement together for the first time. PowerSpector S1’s high speed post-print SPI process incorporates patented new sensor technology and simultaneously combines 3D and 2D image processing methodologies to offer defect detection beyond that previously possible.

Jeremy spent a number of recent years operating across the USA within the Marantz distribution channel but has now returned to the UK for his new post. He is a British national.
