Syntax checker for SRFF files available

The IPC SMEMA Council has announced the release of the Standard Recipe File Format (SRFF) Syntax Checker.

This tool assists the industry in using SRFF, which provides a common and standardized format for process control files used by electronics manufacturing equipment. SRFF simplifies the exchange of information on the factory floor between pieces of equipment. Re-engineering of the files into machine-specific proprietary formats should be eliminated using SRFF, improving cycle time and reducing costs. The SRFF Syntax Checker was developed by Georgia Tech, with funds provided by IPC, and is used to determine if a file adheres to the syntax defined in the SRFF standard, IPC-2531 Standard Recipe File Format Specification, originally published in 1998.

The tool reads an SRFF file and, if any errors are present, indicates error type and location. Engineers can now focus on the content of the process control file and not the syntax.
