Montford Instruments has released a new product range known as The Rack, to complement their range of HARASS rapid stress screening products used for exposing hidden defects in electronic assemblies.

HARASS (Highly Accelerated Airflow Stress Screening) is used to accelerate the mechanism which causes early life failures, so that a fault which takes several weeks to occur can be uncovered within one hour. The speed of this process means that rather than just screening those assemblies that appear suspect, it is possible to screen the entire production output.

With rapid airflow a key ingredient of modern stress screening technology,the way in which products are presented to the airflow has a major influence on the effectiveness and efficiency of the process. Montford has therefore developed The Rack to enable its clients to get the most from their investment in early life failure acceleration technology.

Of particular interest to high volume users is the throughput rate of units,but stress screening is often seen as a bottleneck. The Rack claims to address this issue by making loading and unloading of the chamber simple and quick, with fully populated racks being loaded and unloaded in seconds. This is achieved through PTFE lined glides, self-locating trolleys and racks, and great attention to detail. Even the trolley handles fold away when not in use, to minimise floor area.

The end result is a solution tailored to the individual characteristics of the product being screened, but which can be readily extended to other products,and which provides improved handling, rapid throughput and greater efficiency.
