Research methodology

This case study is based on a combination of secondary and primary data. Publicly available information was sourced from journal articles, news coverage, industry reports and regulatory filings related to Bamboo and Nigeria’s financial technology sector.

In addition, the author conducted a semi-structured interview with Yanmo Omorogbe, co-founder of Bamboo, in April 2025. Insights from this conversation informed the narrative framing of the case. All direct quotations attributed to Omorogbe reflect her perspectives as expressed during this interview and are cited in the text as personal communication. As per APA guidelines, personal communications are cited in-text only and are not included in the reference list.

No other individuals featured in the case were interviewed. Perspectives attributed to other advisors or stakeholders (e.g. Tiwalola Adebayo and Bola Atta) are based on public sources and generalized thematic synthesis rather than direct quotations.

Case overview/synopsis

This case examines Yanmo Omorogbe’s leadership at Bamboo, a pioneering Nigerian fintech firm democratizing investment access. By 2024, Bamboo faced a critical decision: expand into alternative asset classes like commodities or consolidate its stock-trading services.
