The learning organization and the open system beyond the organization’s boundaries

This special issue of The Learning Organization offers readers an expansion of Peter Senge’s theory of the learning organization. The authors in this issue contend that Senge’s original theory stopped short in explaining how learning meets the wider purposes of society.
