Workshop focus and themesThe aim of the workshop is to bring together researchers interested in the issues raised by teamworking. It is intended that the workshop will include work from a variety of perspectives,disciplinary backgrounds and geographical areas.

Nature of workshopThe workshop will be small and participative;it will be a two-day event made up of 35-50 participants. It will be organised by the Nijmegen Business School and held in Nijmegen, the oldest city in The Netherlands.

11th Annual International Conference on Work Teams: Competitive Advantage through High-Performance Work Systems

The 11th International Conference on Work Teams, sponsored by the Center for the Study of Work Teams, continues to be the world's largest and most comprehensive learning opportunity for practitioners who are involved in designing, implementing, supporting and sustaining teams for business results.

This year's theme is "Competitive Advantage through High-Performance Work Systems". The world-class event includes motivational keynote presentations by leading authorities on high performance and over 80 practitioner-oriented presentations, skill-building workshops, team presentations, and panel presentations. Featured authors will be presenting on salient topics from newly published books on teams and high performance.

Among the featured keynotes are:

  • Dr Edward E. Lawler III, who will address "Organization as Competitive Advantage". Dr Lawler has authored or co-authored 28 books on high performance and is hailed as one of today's top management gurus by Business Week magazine.

  • Scott Carson, chief financial officer of the Boeing Commercial Airplane Group, who will address the necessity of "Top Down Commitment" to achieve high performance.

  • Ron Archer, who will share the secrets of team motivation, encouragement,and sustainable high performance during his closing keynote presentation on"Pressure is a Privilege", from his newly released book by the same title.

The conference is designed for team members working in teams; and managers and change agents are supporting the design and implementation of teams and continuing to face the challenge of sustaining teams for high performance in the organization.

Industry representation includes manufacturing and production, service,government, health care, oil and gas, insurance, banking, telecommunications,labor unions, utilities, chemicals, transportation, aviation, military/defense,pharmaceuticals, computer hardware/software, to name a few.

An added component to the conference is the highlighted Team Fair and Vendor Expo that showcases business results by teams and products and services that are useful to teams and team-based organizations.
