The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between team mindfulness and team performance, investigating the mediating roles of team cohesion and team engagement. The research aims to extend theoretical understanding of team mindfulness while offering practical insights for enhancing team performance.
A two-wave time-lagged survey involving 58 teams from service companies in China was conducted. The survey data were analyzed and the proposed chain-mediating model is verified by using structural equation modeling and SPSS PROCESS macro-Model 6.
The results demonstrate that team mindfulness is positively related to team performance and shows an indirect association through the chain mediating effects of team cohesion and team engagement.
This study adopts a segment of the Input-Mediator-Output-Input framework to investigate the dynamic relationship between team mindfulness (input) and team performance (output), with team cohesion and team engagement as emergent state mediators. Besides, the authors summarized three distinctive characteristics of team mindfulness. This paper extends the research on mindfulness at the team level provides new ideas for practical organizational management.
