Support and services for authors and editors
The Literati Club was formed in 1992 and consists of all authors, editors and editorial board members who have contributed to Emerald journals since that time. Over the years, Emerald has sought to support its author community by offering a comprehensive collection of author resources and tangible membership benefits. The following is a brief, at-a-glance summary of the activities of the Literati Club:
We offer support and resources to all authors and editors. We give guidance on the most suitable journal in which to publish a paper; we put authors in touch with editors and ensure the lines of communication remain open.
Our unique Authors' Charter provides comprehensive information on issues of copyright, service levels and standards, all issues of key concern to authors.
Our liberal copyright policy enables our authors to retain the right to use their own material – work can be reproduced without Emerald's prior permission. Authors' moral rights and work will be protected from plagiarism.
Our Annual Awards for Excellence reward and celebrate the efforts and achievements of our author community.
The Literati Club re-invests into our author community by way of Research Fund Awards.
Literati Club Book Fair provides reviews, interviews and information on books written by Literati Club members, plus links to retailers.
Authors can register their research and consulting interests at Literati's Expert Exchange, or use it to find conference speakers, researchers, writers or consultants.
We offer author workshops to help less-experienced researchers understand the publishing process and to increase their chances of being published.
We provide a conference calendar for forthcoming conferences in management and related areas, plus post-conference reviews and information.
The Emerald Research Register provides an opportunity for our authors to register their research projects.
Authors can view usage statistics and information on their own articles published within the Emerald Fulltext database.
Emerald provides quality-assured service and production standards, certified to ISO 9002.
Partnering with contributors to achieve editorial excellence
Emerald is pleased to be able to introduce a new feature of the Literati service to authors and editors. It is primarily, but not exclusively, aimed at those authors whose first language is not English. The Emerald Literati Editing Service will be of key benefit to those whose papers need help in the areas of writing style and grammar.
Emerald has carefully selected (by assessing a sample of work and obtaining references) a number of editors whose skills are of a very high quality. These editors have extensive experience in both business and management or scientific and technical fields. The Emerald Literati Editing Service will put authors directly in touch with these editors, with the ultimate aim of increasing the quality of English of an author's paper and thus increasing the chances of publication.
