MAJOR NEW DEVELOPMENTS PLANNED AT LASER

LASER has recently announced plans for major research into the application of viewdata and communications technology to bibliographical/information processing and networking. The research is wide ranging and arises out of LASER'S proposals for installing new hardware to run and improve its network and interlending activities. This ambitious new system opens up a number of research questions into the applications of different technologies and into co‐operation between systems. The British Library Research & Development has agreed to fund a two‐year research programme based on the new system installation at LASER.
