Seamless precision steel tubing

Keywords: Heggemann, Tubing

High quality, cold drawn precision steel tubes of 1.7734 quality, so-called aerospace tubing, are from now on available at Heggemann Aerospace &Engineering. The company, with its headquarters at the Airport in Paderborn-Lippstadt, Germany, recently took over the tubing department from the Heine + Beisswenger company in addition to its own existing stock capacities. During the past several months there had been severe delays all over Europe concerning the availability of seamless precision tubes, approved according to the German Aerospace Standard LN ("Luftfahrtnorm") 9369. (This material is stated to be comparable to MIL-T-6736B in the USA, 15CDV6 AIR 9160/C in France or UNAVIA 822-02 15 Cr MoV6 in Italy.) Heggemann reports that it has expanded its own tubing department extensively and is offering a wide variety of standard measurements from stock now. Furthermore, special-sized tubes as well as aerodynamically formed or oval profiled diameters are available on demand. These tubes may be used in aerospace for various sorts of things, such as the construction of airplane bodies, fuselages, landing gears, shafts, pedals or engine mount assy.

The tubes' outstanding qualities are claimed to be great yield strengths and excellent capacities to be welded. The material may reportedly be worked with without the otherwise necessary heating treatment; the welding seam is very hard, without the usual quenching and tempering.

Heggemann has been involved with high precision components and systems for aerospace and aviation as well as automobile industries for more than 30 years now. The company, with its headquarters in Bueren, Germany, supplies research and development departments in companies such as EADS, Astrium, NASA, Airbus and Ariane. Concerning General Aviation, it is well known for its noise reduced exhaust systems.
