A new fully portable surface testing machine and a new bench mounted unit have been added to the Mitutoyo range (Plate 3). The SV414 is bench-mounted on its own granite stand and the SV402 has its own useful carrying handle. They enable a wider range of surface measurements, including crankshaft operation,the SV402 features a detector unit which can be easily rotated though 90ú.

High precision digital scales are common to both surface testers to allow highly accurate measurements of the stylus displacement in the X-axis. Quick detector positioning, round surface and tilt compensation functions as well as in-built LED displays for fast confirmation of settings are also included.
In performance, SV402 and SV414 have measuring ranges from 8 to 600mm and resolutions from 0.001 to 0.1 . All measured data can be output via RS232 or Digimatic ports to allow direct connection to data processors or computer systems.
