Heat and flame resistant material

Keywords: Dartford Composites, Plastics, Flame resistance, Heat resistance

Fibre reinforced plastic design and fabrication specialists, Dartford Composites, are in the process of finalising the launch of their new product, extreme temperature plastic (ETP).

This breakthrough in heat resistant materials was developed by Dartford Composites' chief executive and FRP expert, Bill Player, and is thought likely to lead to major advances in life-saving fire and heat protection technology.

ETP is described as a light but strong mouldable plastic that, when set, can withstand the most extreme passive heat application and aggressive flame temperatures well in excess of 2,000°C, outperforming, it is claimed, all predecessors including asbestos based products. With possible applications ranging from train, ship, aircraft and public building materials to fire-fighting and heat protection equipment, this material is believed to be creating a great deal of interest.

Dartford Composites are launching this new product with the full support of parent company, anti-corrosion and sealing specialists Winn & Coales(Denso).
