Introduction

The behaviour of maritime facilities (mainly those located close to the coast) as physical

obstacles and/or dynamic singularities leads to possible variations of coastal processes and,

consequently, sometimes to changes in coastal forms (mainly in the sedimentary ones) relatively

near the facilities, but also in some ones sited in farer areas. It is then advisable to carry out

coastal processes studies before proceeding to the construction of maritime facilities, trying to

avoid problems in the future. The main objective of this type of studies has to be to evaluate the

possible coastal affection and, in the case of unacceptable effects, to introduce changes in the
