Introduction

Climate change guidance for appraisal of flood and coastal erosion risk management projects

in England and Wales (Defra 2006) provides allowances to be made for future increases in sea

level and gives indicative values for sensitivity tests for future offshore waves. These

changes to the hydrodynamic forcing have the potential to change sediment transport and

shoreline evolution, thereby necessitating appraisal of impacts when developing shoreline

management policies.
