Seaton Carew Coastal Strategy

Introduction

Seaton Carew is situated within the borough of Hartlepool on the North East coast of the UK.

URS Scott Wilson was commissioned by Hartlepool Borough Council to undertake the

Seaton Carew Coastal Strategy. The study frontage extends from Newburn Bridge in the

north to the Tees Estuary in the south, a length of some 10 km. The frontage includes

significant residential development as well as major infrastructure assets including Hartlepool

Nuclear Power Station. The study objective was to produce a sustainable coastal defence
