Chapter 23: An Automated Construction Industry: 2035 Scenarios

The world of technology is developing at potentially a greater rate than any time through history, and industry transformations that would previously have taken decades are now expected to occur in five to ten years. The speed of change, and the overall level of adoption of automation and manufacturing-led construction in the construction and related industries is hard to predict, but this chapter presents three potential scenarios based on different levels of application of technology and new delivery models. The results for each scenario are presented and explained and are based on original research and analysis of the potential for automation of individual tasks across a wide range of occupations.
