The Supreme Court case of Loving v. Virginia is an example of an often-marginalized aspect of the Civil Rights Movement, anti-miscegenation laws. This chapter uses a racial pedagogical content knowledge approach to examine two films about the case, The Loving Story and Loving. Included are an overview of Loving v. Virginia and anti-miscegenation laws in the United States, suggested segments and guiding questions for both films, supplemental resources, and a discussion of how whiteness is reinforced even in some progressive films.
