First page of Social Justice Imperatives for Leaders in High-Needs Schools<subtitle>Research From ISLDN Studies and Issues for Future Consideration</subtitle>

In recognition of the 10th anniversary of the International School Leadership Development Network (ISLDN), the coauthors, both of whom have been engaged in ISLDN case study research since the network’s inception, use this chapter as an opportunity in two ways: to revisit findings from our past ISLDN studies, as well as others we have conducted, and to collaboratively consider some practical implications for school leaders who hope to promote social justice in high-needs schools, regardless of national context. Specifically, our collective findings lead us to identify four imperatives that require the immediate attention of social justice leaders, especially in highneeds schools and communities:
