This chapter corresponds to Annex H of EN 1994-1-1, which has the following clauses.
From clause H.2(2), the scope does not include studs covered by Annex G Clause H.2(2)because there is no background information on combined shear and tension resistance of headed studs welded within the ribs of modern decking.
Much of this annex is extracted from Eurocode EN 1992, ‘Design of concrete structures’, Part 4, ‘Design of fastenings for use in concrete’, which has wide scope and does not refer directly to the situation here: a rectangular array of headed studs resisting direct tension, assumed to be shared equally between them. The presentation in Annex H is more helpful than a reference to the whole of EN 1992-4. However, clause H.2(3) does require the use of its clause A.2, ‘Verification of the shear resistance of the concrete member’, which covers local verification for the loads applied by each ‘fastening’.
