This review of Dr. Anderson’s work has stirred great conversations among the three OD contributors: David Jamieson, Peter Sorensen and myself.We agree that the pleasure of reviewing this study, post-dissertation, is even more valuable and noteworthy. Elements of Anderson’s study make a strong contribution to any classic OB or OD textbook, as it reinforces the importance of behavioral concepts of motivation, leadership, communication, organization culture and social responsibility. Already this study appears in a recent leadership textbook (cf. Warrick, Mueller & Warrick, 2024).
On a personal level, I believe that Anderson’s work makes three significant contributions to (a) law enforcement; (b) Organization Development; and it (c) furthers Weick’s notion of small wins. For this review, I will address each of the concepts.
