Introduction
The Environment Agency has recently completed a £1.1m coastal defence project on the
North Kent coast.
The 6.7km frontage between Faversham Creek and Seasalter had been identified in the
regional plan as a key contributor towards the successful delivery of the region's targets for
flood protection. The resulting solution was designed to prolong the life of the existing
defences in accordance with the approved Shoreline Management Plan (SMP) and included
the construction and refurbishment of a number of strategically placed timber groynes and the
importation of 7,500m3 of beach recharge material.
