Would the Authors compare metro capacities provided by conventional signalling and by new technology.
What are their reactions to 'Swissmetro'?

Do the Authors believe that advanced technology for all its benefits will increase or decrease route costs and thus the affordability ofthe transit product, e.g. a.c. drives and passenger information systems.
If we conclude that technology does not necessarily confer simplicity and low maintenance costs then: what incentives can we give to specifiers and proj ect managers to reduce maintenance and whole life costs throughout the procurement process when their prime focus is on short-term deliverables?
