Canal reservoirs in Great Britain

This paper considers the development of canal reservoirs in Great Britain from a historical perspective and reflects how they developed in the light of changing requirements and engineering advances. Ninety-two reservoirs, with an average age of 188 years, remain the responsibility of British Waterways. There are many more which have found other uses or been discontinued.
