BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES PETER J WHITE ACGI, B.SC(ENG) MICE, CENG
Peter White is the Assistant Director of Civil Engineering (Works) at British Railways Board HQ, responsible for the standards and policies for the inspection, maintenance and reconstruction of all bridges and structures. A graduate of Imperial College, London, he entered BR service on their training scheme in 19 5 5.
His early career included experience in a number of posts at Kings Cross, Stratford, Leeds, Newcastle and Preston, before being appointed Divisional Civil Engineer at Liverpool in 1979. After a reorganisation, he became Area Civil Engineer, Manchester, in 1984, a post which he left in 1986 on appointment to BRB HQ as Resources Engineer. He took over his present position in May 1988.
