Scammers and imposter participants are well-known in quantitative studies but not highlighted as often in qualitative studies. The purpose of this research outtake is to describe the process of identifying and removing imposter participants in a qualitative research study. The temporary impacts on the study are described to demonstrate how the researcher overcame the unanticipated setback. This research outtake aims to inform other rising scholars to ensure legitimate participants in their qualitative studies.
