First page of Teacher as Researcher
Research as a Partnership

For most of the day, as I nurture children, mediate problems, zip snow suits, and teach my class to reason, think, and question, I am a teacher. Teaching is what I do each day as I work with my class of first and second graders, and it is what I have done for more than 20 years.

So what does it mean when I also take on the role of teacher–researcher? What does it mean for me to engage in research as I am also doing the work of educating my students? What does it mean for me and for others to consider the work that I am doing research?
