Over the years 2001–2006 we developed the Utrecht Challenging Student Questionnaire for Teachers (UCSQT) to assess the incidence of teachers’ daily interaction with the most challenging student and the perceived stress that this becomes for them. The UCSQT measures two dimensions of challenging student behavior, termed externalizing and internalizing behavior. Externalizing behavior focuses on three factors: (1) against the grain, (2) full of activity/easily distractible, and (3) aggressive/hostile. Internalizing factors are: (1) needs a lot of attention/weak student, (2) easily upset, and (3) failure syndrome/excessively perfectionist. In this article we report the results of two Principal Axis Factoring (PAF) studies and one Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). Over the independent samples, a replicable and interpretable factor structure was found.
