First page of A Dialogue About Esperanza School

Eloisa: Paulo, John, Bill Schubert, and Bill Pinar, throughout reading this book, you have learned about Esperanza School and my interest in community schools as a possible solution for problems in the Honduran education system. You have read the responses of my participants and heard about their involvement with Esperanza School and their perspectives on community. Now, after reading about my dilemmas around Esperanza School and what it represents about education in Honduras, I want to ask you a few questions in light of what your philosophical views can tell us about the Esperanza School’s practices. I wonder if the kind of education taking place in Esperanza School is even possible for the rest of Honduras.
