As the Boston University/Chelsea Partnership transitions to an end, how should relationships between community organizations and the Chelsea School Department evolve? To what extent are present relations helping or hindering this evolution?
In 2006, Superintendent of the Chelsea Public School District Dr. Thomas Kingston invited me to come to Chelsea, Massachusetts, and answer these questions. He was interested in getting fresh answers based on local research. He also wanted to be sure that the research was empirically grounded, so that it could be used by the district to create better school experiences and life chances for the students and families of Chelsea.
