Abstract
This chapter discusses the radical symmetry between Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) and circular manufacturing that promotes regenerative business design. In a world where climatic unpredictability, economic insecurity and technological progress have become the order of the day, our current linear form of production is not sustainable. The combination of AGI, where adaptive learning and goal-directed independence are key features, and the principles of the circular economy is a unique combination providing outstanding value creation potential. This chapter further explains how AGI can transform product creation, rationalise the production line, streamline the supply chain and improve waste management, adopting the human-centred and sustainable perspective of Industry 5.0. In addition, the chapter addresses the importance of sustainable innovation in solving international environmental issues to achieve competitive advantage as well as to satisfy the current consumer and other stakeholders’ demands. It aims to strengthen the idea of integrating the power of AGI-enhanced circular manufacturing and modify the entire landscape of industrial value creation and not just afford to reduce waste. The human-AI collaboration is discussed as fundamental to the success of achieving environmental and economic prosperity, maintaining the long-term perspective.
