Purpose – Explains how to develop emotional intelligence within a team. Design/methodology/approach – Sets out a series of techniques that, it is argued, will enable team members to understand each other, support each other and work together more effectively, including understanding cultural differences and resolving conflict. Findings – Argues that managers should act as facilitators and support teams to have the discussions that will enable team members to understand themselves and each other and, consequently manage the behavior and activities of the team. Practical implications – Describes each of the techniques that are suggested as part of the process of team development.
