Purpose – Discusses why talent management is important for organizational performance and the sets out the role that trainers should play in supporting their organization’s talent management strategy. Design/methodology/approach – Discusses what an effective talent management strategy is, what it should include and how it should be carried out. Also discusses the training and learning methods should be part of a talent management strategy. Findings – Stresses that organizations need to be able to identify which employees have the skills they need and to develop a programme that will enable these employees to develop their skills and their careers with the organization.
