This study employed the self-determination theory to develop a conceptual model examining the mediating role of motivation (autonomy, relatedness and competence needs) in the relationship between perceived supervisor support and the adaptive performance of fluid workers.
To test this, data from two time points were obtained from 354 fluid workers.
The results revealed that motivation served as a significant mediating mechanism through which perceived supervisor support positively influenced the adaptive performance of fluid workers.
These results are crucial for a comprehensive understanding of the factors shaping fluid workers' adaptive performance and underscore the importance of implementing management strategies to promote their motivation.
