Prospects for India to end-2022
Significance
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) recently raised its forecast for average annual inflation in the fiscal year ending March 2023 to 6.7%. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, for its part, aims to strengthen trade relations with partners in the region and beyond. Separately, state legislative assembly elections are expected towards the end of the year in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, both currently governed by Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
