Examines the equal opportunities problems associated in the US,particularly, with regard to women and the coloured community and promotion to management jobs. Shows that white males still dominate and,while their involvement in choosing possible successors is still strong,the prevention of others to entry will continue. Differing types of solution are discussed and the conclusion is that the “glass ceiling”, while not being broken, is at least showing signs of cracking.
