Argues that human-resource (HR) analytics are key to strengthening the ability of human-resource managers to support high levels of organizational performance and, consequently, to building the reputation of human-resource management within the organization. Contends that there are a number of fundamental debates about HR analytics that need to resolved before this can happen. Looks at these debates in turn, developing a definition for what HR analytics are, why they are important, whether the human resources or the IT department should lead on gathering and analysing them and how they should be used. Underlines that HR analytics is an evidence-based approach that will enable human-resource management policies and practices to be developed and deployed effectively and that this will improve the performance of both individual employees and the organization as a whole.
