Grover R.Business Week (USA), 5 February 2007, No. 4020: p. 74 (6 pages)

Purpose – to examine how Inger, Walt Disney Company’s new chief executive, has managed to bring about a change of corporate culture and to improve Disney’s performance. Design/methodology/approach – puts forward how Disney’s performance has improved dramatically since the appointment of its new chief executive, Robert I Inger. Provides Inger’s biographical details and outlines the major challenges that he will have to overcome if he is to sustain the 2006 success story. Suggests that Inger’s achievements at Disney have been due to his implementation of a less centralized structure and his engendering of a team spirit at the company; looks at his managerial style, compares it to that of his predecessor Michael Eisner and reports, among other things, how he has been able to win over the Pixar crew(now in charge of Disney’s animation unit). Describes Inger’s plans to boost the company’s online fortunes by developing a direct link with consumers on the web to supplement the company’s existing deals with cable and satellite providers. Originality/value – draws attention to how Inger’s managerial style differs from that of his predecessor Michael D. Eisner.Viewpoint/Case studyReference 36AF061
