Every time the country gets into a mess people start talking about reforming the political and economic system. But once the crisis has passed, or more accurately, once the appropriate temporary patches have been applied, life goes back to normal until the next crisis, whether natural or contrived, bursts upon us. Then we return once more to the theme of reform, although no‐one really has any confidence that anything will come of it.
