David Clutterbuck's book on Mentoring is the most helpful material available on this important subject. It is succinct enough not to lend itself easily to a shortened version in article form. The following note was used to introduce the subject at the World Congress on Management Development in June 1986 and is reproduced here to stimulate further interest.
