In the hospital service, where there are so many different disciplines, we have for a long time felt the need for a short course on supervisory skills. The line managers and I have got together and evolved a three‐day course for supervisors, irrespective of whether they are head porters in small hospitals, staff nurses, administrators, domestic supervisors or therapists.
