This collection of articles from an international group of academics and practitioners has its origins in a conference organised by the Sri Lanka International Group, Hotel & Catering International Management Association (HCIMA). The book consists of five sections containing 31 chapters from 22 contributors. The sections cover:
- 1.
hospitality management associations (four chapters);
- 2.
destination marketing (six chapters);
- 3.
special interest tourism (six chapters);
- 4.
hospitality business challenges (five chapters);
- 5.
best practices in hospitality (five chapters); and
- 6.
the aviation industry (five chapters).
The book will appeal to a wide readership – from students to practitioners – as each chapter is clearly presented and easy to follow. As a library purchase it is a useful reference text as it covers a broad range of topics in a practical and accessible way. The preface provides a helpful starting point as Chandana (Chandi) Jayawardena the book editor (and also associate editor of this Journal) provides a concise summary of each section.
The wide coverage of topics, blend of perspectives and authors and the concise, accessible format of this book help to ensure that there is something here for everyone.
