Conference & Exhibition on Environment & Sustainability 2009

The Second Conference and Exhibition on Environment and Sustainability will be held in Kuwait City from 16 to 19 February 2009. The objectives of the conference are:

  • to review the progressive status regarding environmental Issues and Concerns;

  • to enhance the joint Cooperation between the Gulf States;

  • to identify the environmental problems in the Gulf Region & Arab States;and

Congress “Climate Change: Global Risks, Challenges and Decisions”

10-12 March 2009, Copenhagen, Denmark

The University of Copenhagen is hosting an international scientific congress on climate change under the heading “Climate Change: Global Risks,Challenges and Decisions”, 10-12 March 2009 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The congress is organised in cooperation with nine other universities in the International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU).

The main aim of the congress is to provide a synthesis of existing and emerging scientific knowledge necessary in order to make intelligent societal decisions concerning application of mitigation and adaptation strategies in response to climate change. The congress aims to identify and synthesise the science, technology and policy advances required in order to ensure sustainability of global communities in the current and coming decades.

The findings of the congress will be supplementary to the work of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The congress will provide a summary of existing scientific knowledge two years after the last IPCC report. Further details are available at: http://climatecongress.ku.dk/

5th World Environmental Education Congress (5WEEC)

10-14 May 2009, Montréal, Quebec, Canada

The 5th World Environmental Education Congress Environmental will gather professors, researchers, teachers, university students, community leaders, civil servants, museum and park interpreters, consultants, journalists, artists, and all other actors in environmental education. Under the theme “Earth, our common home” the Congress invites participants to contribute to the most important project of our humanity: to learn to live better the Earth, developing an hearthly fraternity within our Oïkos, this “house” divided between the humans and the other forms of life. Eco-efficiency, modeling and evaluation for sustainability conference

18-20 November 2009, Egmond aan Zee, the Netherlands

This is the third in a series of international eco-efficiency conferences and aims to explore a range of issues regarding eco-innovation and how to put eco-efficiency into practice. Sessions will consider the role of industry and policy in setting adequate targets and incentives, tools for measuring environmental accounting performance, the use of case studies to consider micro requirements for macro decoupling, and modelling and evaluation for sustainability.
